Flowers Partners with DMC as Clinical Site for Surgical Technologist Program

Dale Medical Center recently partnered with Flowers Hospital to provide students with a clinical site for their Surgical Technologist Program. Students of the program will begin rotating through DMC surgery department gaining valuable experience to prepare them for the workforce. Surgical technologists are also known as operating room technicians and scrubs. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams and work alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses.

The aim of the accredited program at Flowers Hospital is to graduate Surgical Technologists who can function in the operating room. To reach this goal, they combine classroom instruction and excellent clinical experiences.

Classes are currently enrolled each year in the fall. The course lasts 11months and is divided into six quarters lasting 7-9 weeks each. There are scheduled breaks during the year. Calendars for the current year are available from the Program Coordinator.

Graduates are employed at hospitals in the operating room and cardiac catheterization labs, in Surgery Centers and in physician offices. Some graduates take advantage of traveler agencies to explore employment opportunities across America.
