DMC Welcomes Dr. Chase Smith of Southern Bone and Joint


(August 2017) Dale Medical Center welcomes Dr. Chase Smith and Southern Bone and Joint Specialist to the Ozark Medical Community. Dr. Smith and other orthopedic specialist will be providing orthopedic care Monday - Friday in their clinic located at 2126 W. Roy Parker Road, Suite 201 inside the DMC Surgery Center.

Dr. Chase Smith, graduated magna cum laude from Auburn University and earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a sports medicine fellowship at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Birmingham, where he worked with world renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. While there he was an assistant team physician for Auburn University and participated in the care of professional, college and high school athletes.

At Andrews Sports Medicine, he specialized in minimally invasive arthroscopy and treatment of sports-related injuries, as well as open and arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.

He was an assistant professor in Orthopedics specializing in sports medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he helped take care of colligate athletics at the University and at several other colleges in Arkansas.

In addition, he completed extra training to treat cartilage injuries in the knee with articular cartilage implantation and meniscal transplantation. He has completed research on bicep tenodesis in pitchers, and the effect of self-adherent wrap on range o motion. He has a special interest in rodeo-related injuries as he is a member of the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association and actively competes in steer wresting.

Dr. Smith and his wife Chelsey, an ENT physician, and their two sons are excited to be a part of the Dale County community where he grew up.
