Community Hospice Names New Medical Director

Dr. Stephen Sanders has been named medical director for Community Hospice of the Wiregrass. Community Hospice is a fully licensed hospice agency offering services to families in the following counties: Dale, Houston, Henry, Barbour, Geneva, Coffee and Pike.

Dr. Sanders is a native of Geneva, Alabama. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He served as Chief Resident during his residency training in Family Medicine at Baptist Health System. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

As medical director, Dr. Sanders will be responsible for the oversight of the care and treatment of patients that may be faced with end of life care. In fact he is so passionate about caring for his patients; he makes house calls to Community Hospice patients. According to Dr. Sanders, "We bring our care to patients in their home setting. Every hospice has to provide physician or nurse practitioner home visits for recertification with Medicare, but we take it a step further. Our goal is to provide the best care and make it as easy as possible for the patient and family. I believe physician house calls accomplish that goal."
